As an international student from Malaysia applying to the United States, I was awed by the complexity of the application process. Fortunately, however, in the summer of my junior year, I came across Ms. Karen Curreri, who provided me with phenomenal guidance and support, including information about testing (TOEFL and SAT I and II) and application procedures specific to international students. First and foremost, Karen's years of experience and expertise helped identify the fact that I am affected by ADHD and a reading disability. This discovery has provided me with flexibility and accommodations that have improved my performance in an academic environment. Karen's emphasis on time management and prompt action is certainly one of the characteristics that make her an outstanding college counselor. During the summer of 2008, as I was visiting the United States, Karen helped me walk-through the various parts of the application from the resume to the essays. She encouraged me to dig deep to write the best essay I could. She also helped me to set-up interviews with various colleges. With Karen at my side, I have been able to gain tremendous confidence. Karen has undeniably stretched my potential and helped me exercise my capabilities. Thank you Karen for your phenomenal support, help and advice!

Being Hispanic and attending a public high school made me weary about the chances of getting accepted into an ivy league school.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: I worked with Karen Curreri

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Being Hispanic and attending a public high school made me weary about the chances of getting accepted into an ivy league school. However, Karen Curreri helped me focus on my strengths, worked with me to improve my weaknesses, and gave my application a cohesive and solid structure. Previously, I felt I was at a major disadvantage in the application process, but working with her gave me confidence, and it showed me the way to effectively navigate my academic and extracurricular accomplishments in a way that would make my application stand out. With her help I reached for my dream schools, and was eventually accepted into Harvard, Yale, UC Berkeley, and other top schools. I wholeheartedly recommend her to future college applicants!!

She Rocks!
We decided on Karen as Melissa has a strong desire to shed the East Coast and attend school in Southern California. She currently attends a very good high school in Norwell, MA and she has excellent MCAS scores in her chosen area of interest, Linguistics. Melissa was lacking that eye catching something special from her resume and needed help getting her math scores up. We started w/ Karen in the spring of this year. With 2 younger children in the family we did not have the time to devote (nor did Melissa really want OUR help). Karen and her staff have managed to develop a rapport with Melissa which enabled my daughter to work hard to not only get the job done but in such a way pleasing to all involved in this time consuming, stressful process. Thank God for Curreri College Counseling! KUDOS!

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: We retained Curreri College Counseling during Melissa's freshman year. Karen and her staff counseled and guided her throughout her high school years. We consider it money well spent to have achieved our goal, no worries.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Melissa is thrilled to be attending Loyola Marymount University and she was a scholarship recipient at the University of Massachussets at Amherst. She alleviated not only Melissa's stress but also assisted her father and I through what could have been a complicated process.

My son attended a large public high school with an understaffed and overworked counseling department. My husband and I hired Karen Curreri the summer preceding his senior year (extremely late in the game) because the reality of the college application process was overwhelming. Our son really had no idea where he wanted to go to college or what the application process entailed. One of my dear friends introduced me to Karen Curreri. My son was somewhat resistant to asking for and getting help, but my husband and I were both profoundly grateful for her guidance and flexibility. We did not 'shop' for consultants because we were so impressed by Ms. Curreri's presentation, knowledge, advice and guidance that we did not feel a need to look elsewhere.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: My son, my husband and I worked directly with Ms. Curreri. She opened our eyes to the myriad opportunities that were available to our son and helped him to shape his application for the best results. We found Ms. Curreri's contribution to the process invaluable because she presented a myriad of options to our son that he would never have otherwise considered. Her service helped to build our son's confidence in himself as he was able to better articulate his achievements and goals.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: As a consequence of Ms. Curreri's input, our son was accepted to Dartmouth, Duke University, Harvey Mudd, Northwestern, USC and qualified for honor track programs at four UC's. He ultimately selected UC Berkeley because he knew that he wanted to major in mathematics and he was extremely impressed with the faculty, staff and opportunity afforded at Cal.

Peace of Mind with Curreri College Consulting
We had three sons applying to college within 15 months. (twins plus one) Natalie Neuman, Educational Psychologist UCLA, highly recommended Ms. Curreri. All three sons attended a large public high school in California. Counselors within the high school are responsible for hundreds of students and as a result any personal attention is minimal. Ms. Curreri is well aware of course requirements, extracurricular activities, athletics, volunteer hours, and hobbies necessary to obtain admission. She is supportive of testing, tutoring, summer classes, application processes and well written essays. In the end, the quality of the students own work determines the outcome of college choice. Ms. Curreri is their to maximize the students potential by opening doors that otherwise might be unknown.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Ms. Curreri worked personally with two of my sons. One of my twins has a learning disability, he had been admitted to his school of choice when we hired Ms. Curreri. She agreed with his decision supporting and reassuring the choice with her personal information of the school. She is currently working with my fourth child who is a sophomore in high school. The most valuable contribution to the process is her understanding of individual student strengths/struggles, her vast knowledge of available colleges, resources and the ability to match the student with a school he/she will be successful attending. She has an uncanny ability to match a school to the individual student for an ideal fit. She expects the student to work diligently with her during this process. She understands child development and the conflict of emotions as a student transitions from living at home to living away from home.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Ms.Curreri recommended a college for one of my sons, that we were not aware of during his application process. This turned out to be the college he chose to attend. He is graduating Summa Cum Laude in 3 1/2 years! My third son had a "dream" school which through Ms. Curreri's knowledge became a reality. He is currently a junior and doing exceptionally well. Ms. Curreri's solid reputation with admission committee members resulted in our son's ultimate acceptance to each of their schools. We applied to UC's, out of state schools and private schools all upon the recommendation of Ms. Curreri. We feel many of the decisions made between the ages of 16 y/o and 24 y/o determine an individual's life. We found Ms. Curreri's services invaluable along with the peace of mind that our sons were aware of their educational options and worth every single penny!

Karen Curreri has personally worked with two of my sons. She began working with them as sophomores. We met Karen at a college talk she gave to the lacrosse team. Karen's professional, direct and creative methods not only were successful for my sons, but made the whole college application process less painful and time consuming. Karen challenged my sons to work hard, be passionate about their interests and start the process early. Karen and her team are knowledgeable and compassionate. They understand teenagers and set them on a path for success.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Curreri College Counseling offers tutoring, test prep, counseling, editing and most of all invaluable advice and guidance to assist your child in developing a successful college list that will lead to many letters of acceptance and choices for your child. Karen's team is experienced, organized and focused. She has helped both my sons, who had very different strengths.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: My oldest son was admitted to U of Denver, UC Davis, U of Indiana, and is attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He is thriving-and would have NEVER applied if it were not for Karen. My middle son is a senior and applying now to the UC's, and The Ivies.

If you want your child to receive personal attention and to make realistic choices for college-you will be thrilled with Karen and her team.

We hired Karen Curreri in my son's junior year of high school in order to help him navigate the college admission process and for him to assume ownership of the experience. My son attended a large private high school that provided its own college counselors and although we felt the service they offered was helpful, we felt that they did not provide sufficient time to truly counsel our son. Karen was referred to us by a friend who found her "extraordinary" and she proved to be even better than that! We chose Karen because of her sincere and genuine concern and above all her expertise and knowledge of the college counseling process.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Our son worked directly with Karen. She was worth every penny we spent. Karen was able to help my son focus and enable him to formulate his thoughts about the different colleges and how to best present himself to them.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Our son was admitted to his first choice college, Yale, where he finally enrolled.

I attended a large public high school where the counselors had very limited time to spend on individual students. I was a competitive swimmer for a club team and was overwhelmed by the recruiting and college application process. Karen Curreri was highly recommended in our community.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Karen helped me to assess what schools would be a good fit for me academically, athletically, and socially. She set me up with a SAT tutor, helped me outline ideas for my essays, and worked with coaches to set up my recruiting trips. Additionally, Karen helped me improve my grades my senior year in order to reach the goals we had set. Above and beyond the organization and planning, Karen gave me the confidence to make decisions for myself.

RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: By working with Karen Curreri I went on recruiting trips to University of Michigan, University of Georgia, University of Miami, and University of Southern California. After many hours of consultation and deliberation I enrolled and attended USC on a full swimming scholarship. However, this was not the end of my working relationship with Karen. After 2 years at Southern Cal my priorities changed and I decided that swimming at the elite level was not something I wanted to continue with. Karen helped me apply and transfer to the University of Miami where I graduated with a BS in Communication and Psychology. After college I began working in Sports Marketing for Under Armour Performance Apparel. After 3 years with UA I realized that I wanted to change careers and again enlisted the advice and guidance of Karen Curreri. Because of the great influence Karen had on my life, I wanted to follow in her footsteps and help others through counseling. Karen helped me apply, wrote an amazing letter of recommendation and I was accepted into the Johns Hopkins University where I will be graduating in May with a Masters in counseling psychology. As you can see Curreri College Counseling has had a positive and lasting influence on my life.
